EMILY BROTHERS CHALLENGES LIB DEM’S TO IMPLEMENT LONDON LIVING WAGE WITHOUT DELAY

TUESDAY 14 January 2014

Emily Brothers, Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate for Sutton and Cheam has challenged the Lib Dem run council to implement the London Living Wage for staff and agency workers without delay. After last night’s Labour backed motion at Sutton’s Full Council meeting, in which they co-operated with the Tories, Emily Brothers said:

“The Lib Dem’s hand has been forced to endorse fair remuneration, despite having opposed implementing the London Living Wage at the last Full Council meeting.

“Now the principle has been agreed, it is time for the Lib Dem run Council to implement it with out delay.

“Procrastination is the thief of time, but time is one thing the Lib Dem’s don’t have on their side.

“Council employees and agency staff deserve a decent and fair income, so it is time to do the right thing.”
