The Case Against The Liberal Democrats

You can’t trust the Liberal Democrats and the Un-credible Shrinking Man, Nick Clegg. Labour’s video is light-hearted, but makes a serious point - that time and again Nick Clegg and his party have gone along with the Tories in putting the interests of a privileged few first. You can view it here: http://youtu.be/IIH-2lZF2yw

You can’t trust Paul Burstow, Lib Dem MP, as he is breaking his promises.

• Paul Burstow promised to scrap tuition fees and then trebled them, after Lib Dems said they would scrap them.
• Paul Burstow promised not to increase VAT, warned against a “Tory VAT bombshell”, but then voted through a VAT rise on hardworking families.
• Paul Burstow promised a fair tax system with the wealthiest paying more, but has cut taxes for millionaires paid for by millions of hardworking families.
• Paul Burstow promised to be on the side of working people, but hardworking people are £1,600 worse off since they joined the Tories in government.

You can’t trust the Lib Dems – they say they are holding David Cameron back, but Nick Clegg and Paul Burstow have been weak and backed the Tories all the way

• Paul Burstow contrived with the Tories to stopped local people and commissioners from making decisions about their health services.
• Paul Burstow backed the Tories’ wasteful and damaging £3 billion top-down reorganisation of the NHS, while cutting nurses and seeing waiting lists rise and operations rationed.
• Paul Burstow backed the Tories’ hated Bedroom Tax, even though two thirds of the people hit by it are disabled people and 60,000 are carers.
• Paul Burstow backed Michael Gove and allowed schools to recruit unqualified teachers, putting school standards at risk.

You can’t trust Ruth Dombey, Lib Dem Council Leader, as she has failed to stand up for local people.

• Ruth Dombey has failed to influence local health service reforms and refuses to show visible support for the Save St Helier Hospital Campaign by not allowing a banner outside the civic offices or slogans on the side of council vehicles.
• Ruth Dombey has crashed Sutton’s reputation for recycling – instead trying to divert attention by indulging in the costly publicity gimmick of dumping 11 tons of rubbish in the High Street.
• Ruth Dombey has her priorities wrong, spending your money to fight a judicial review in order to secure an incinerator that will cause greater levels of pollution in the borough.
• Ruth Dombey didn’t act to challenge racial discrimination or uphold standards in public office.

You can’t trust the Liberal Democrats, as they break their promises, fail to deliver fairness and lack ambition for Sutton.
