Thousands of people In Sutton and Cheam are caught in a sustained cost-of-living crisis where the great wealth of our nation has become separated from everyday family finances. So many are working harder and harder, but feel they are slipping further and further behind. A few are getting the big rewards, but hardworking families face growing insecurity for themselves and worry what the future holds for their children. Inequality is rampant and the Promise of Britain, that the next generation should do better than the last, is being broken.

Emily Brothers believes in dynamic markets with rules that ensure they work in the public interest, taking corporate social responsibility seriously and contributing to an economy which works for the many not just a privileged few.

Emily Brothers dismisses the polarised policies of the Conservatives and procrastination from the Liberal Democrats, saying that:
“I believe you meet the challenges facing people living and working in Sutton and Cheam with an ambitious programme that embraces all of our community. You can help me turn our One Nation vision into reality – because it is about the decent values that our country has always held in common. That’s why I have proposed a Fairness Commission for Sutton, to strategically challenge inequality and tackle the cost of living crisis.”

If elected to Parliament in May 2015, Emily Brothers will support a Labour Government that will:
• Freeze gas and electricity bills until 2017 and reform the energy market;
• Get 200,000 homes built a year by 2020;
• Stop families that rent being ripped off and help them plan for the future with new long term predictable tenancies;
• Cut income tax for hardworking people through a lower 10p starting tax rate, introducing a 50p top rate of tax as we pay off the deficit in a fair way;
• Ban exploitative zero-hour contracts;
• Make work pay by strengthening the Minimum Wage and providing tax breaks to firms that boost pay through the Living Wage;
• Back small businesses by cutting business rates and reforming the banks;
• Help working parents with 25 hours of free childcare for three- and four-year-olds;
• Tackle the abuse of migrant labour to undercut wages by banning recruitment agencies that only hire foreign workers and pressing for stronger controls in Europe;
• Back the next generation with a job guarantee for the young unemployed and more apprenticeships.

This is Labour’s contract with you. Vote for Emily Brothers to make Sutton and Cheam a fairer place for all.
